A couple weeks ago, at the Pirelli World Challenge Series at the Circuit of the America’s in Austin, Texas, there was a car on the track that’s been more than a decade in the making. The new Cadillac ATS-V.R. finally made its racing debut, putting the brand’s new V6 LF4 engine to work. In fact, they used the LF4.R, a special racing version of the engine, engineered to meet FIA GT3 specifications.
“A lot of details had to come together since last September,” said David Caldwell, Cadillac Racing program manager, ahead of the car’s debut. “The entire team has been digging deep non-stop and I’m happy with the progress we have made. Our focus has been testing on and off track and getting the drivers and engineers comfortable with the new car. We are very excited to be able to finally debut the car in its first race at the Circuit of the America’s on March 7.”
The ATS-V.R. will actually be eligible for all kinds of races, thanks to that very same FIA GT3 specification we mentioned earlier. For now, we know that drivers really like driving it, and we have tons of fun watching it zoom around a track—and hopefully so do you. Come see us here at Crest Cadillac to learn more about the race car and the production model Cadillac ATS-V today!
