Cadillac’s V-Series cars are the world’s fastest production cars, and the next generation may be getting even faster.
According to Autocar, the next-generation CTS-V is expected to get the same engine as the Chevrolet Corvette C7 Z06—the LT4 V8. This engine should boost the CTS-V’s output to near 600-horsepower levels. However, it is not expected to achieve the 625 horsepower produced by the Z06.
The CTS-V will, of course, be equipped with rear-wheel drive and will use General Motor’s new eight-speed automatic transmission. Maybe with the new, more powerful engine, the CTS-V will surpass its current 0-60 mph time of 3.9 seconds.
Based on the recent spy photos, the CTS-V may have quad exhaust tips. It also has a dramatically different front end; though, that design may not make it to the final production version.
There aren’t many other details about the upcoming car; however, it is expected to be released in 2015. Here at Crest Cadillac, we have the 2014 Cadillac CTS-V available now in the sedan, coupe, and wagon models. Come give it a try to see which version you prefer.
