Test driving a car is the second most important part of getting a new car right after being able to pay for it. When you take that first test drive, you’ll be able to tell if the car is right for you. If you’re on the fence, a test drive could help you make the final decision. Here are some tips on how to test drive a car to see if it’s right for you!
- Comfort – When you first get in the car, play with the seat, adjust the mirrors, play with the radio, and adjust the temperature settings. If you aren’t comfortable, can’t see clearly, or find another problem, it may be a sign that you should pass.
- Driving – Once you’re sure you can drive in comfort, it’s time to hit the road. Press on the accelerator, hit the brakes (safely), go around curves, and up and down hills. Be sure to drive on roads similar to those you usually drive on. If you drive up and down hills often and the car can’t handle it, it’s time to move on.
- Considering – After you’re back at the dealership, take some time to think about the car. If the drive went well, you’ll be enticed to buy it then and there. Taking time to consider will help you work out both the good and the bad. Once you’ve made your final decision, let the dealer know.
