Fingers-Crossed: The Compact Cadillac ATS-V Coupe May Upset Some German Automakers

Here at Crest Cadillac, we’ve had goose bumps ever since we saw pictures of the new 2016 Cadillac ATS-V Coupe. With an aggressive new look and a twin-turbo under the hood, this model promises to be one of the best luxury sports cars on the road (that’s right Germans, step aside).

So what’s the big deal? Well, the Cadillac ATS-V Coupe is where Cadillac is choosing to offer drivers a sporty ride with raw power, according to Car and Driver. Typically, Cadillac likes to offer mid-size luxury sedans with big engines – not here, though. The compact Cadillac ATS-V Coupe is built on a more succinct, aerodynamic platform with a solid twin-turbo V-6.

“Since the regular ATS feels more enjoyably carlike and offers better handling than the workaday 4-series, if the V holds the same tack, things could get very interesting indeed,” said Davey Johnson of Car and Driver.

The 2016 model will most likely be built on the same platform as the next Camaro, if that gives you an idea of what Cadillac engineers are aiming for. Naturally, lightweight design, tons of tech gear (like the CUE infotainment system), and an eight-speed transmission are also expected.
