Celebrating Memorial Day in Milwaukee, Wisconsin

While Memorial Day is considered the unofficial start of summer, it is also a day to remember those who paid the ultimate price for our freedom and died while serving our country.

One traditional way to celebrate this holiday is to visit cemeteries and decorate the graves of fallen soldiers. This could be a great way to teach your children about your family’s heritage or just to show them how to show respect.

In addition to decorating graves, there are quite a few Memorial Day activities in and around Milwaukee.

  • Milwaukee Memorial Day Parade. The Parade begins at N. 4th St and W. Wisonsin Ave. at 2 pm and heads east to the War Memorial Center. This year’s parade honors in particular Vietname veterans and prisoners of war or missing in action.
  • South Milwaukee Memorial Day Ceremony. This year’s annual ceremony will not include a parade but will start with a procession at 10:30 with the ceremony beginning at 11 am at the American Legion Hall Post 27 on 906 Monroe Ave.

Here at Crest Cadillac, we hope you have a happy and safe Memorial Day surrounded with friends and family. But we also hope you take some time to remember those who have given the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
