One major benefit to purchasing a luxury car is that you get first access to new in-car technology. One of the newest safety innovations is crash avoidance technology that includes autobraking. Cadillac is one of only a few brands that earned the top “Superior” rating in front crash prevention from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).
Both the 2014 Cadillac CTS and XTS earned five out of a possible six points. Not only do these models come with an available forward collision warning system, but they also include an autobrake feature that will automatically put on the brakes when an impending collision is sensed.
“We know that this technology is helping drivers avoid crashes,” said David Zuby, IIHS executive vice president, in a statement. “The advantage of autobrake is that even in cases where a crash can’t be avoided entirely, the system will reduce speed. Reducing the speed reduces the amount of damage that occurs to both the striking and struck cars and reduces injuries to people in those cars.”
The IIHS tested the vehicles at two speeds, 12 mph and 25 mph. The two Cadillac models scored two out of two points on the 12 mph test and two out of three points on the 25 mph test. They also earned one point each for having a forward collision warning system.
If you’re looking for a new car that offers not only the best luxury, but also the best safety, look no further than the 2014 Cadillac CTS or XTS, both available now at Crest Cadillac.
