Who doesn’t want the best of both worlds? A world with the top-of-the-line Cadillac CT6 in it is looking better than ever as it combines the new standard for luxury with advanced technology for efficiency. The automaker announced it would offer the sedan as a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) at the Shanghai Motor Show last month.
Not only is the CT6 the first model of its kind in the automaker’s lineup, but the sedan will also be the first Caddy to add a plug-in hybrid powertrain to its list of available features.
“The first-ever CT6 is a technological showcase throughout, making it an ideal platform for Cadillac to offer its first plug-in hybrid,” said Johan de Nysschen, Cadillac president. “In the CT6, Cadillac presents a new formula for prestige luxury. The advanced Plug-In Hybrid system is a key addition, providing a combination of exceptional fuel economy, crisp acceleration and strong electric-driving range.”
The hybrid propulsion system will be paired with an exclusive rear-wheel electric variable transmission (EVT), enabling smooth acceleration to complement the 335-hp motor system.
Of course, the best news is that not only does the PHEV deliver a sporty drive along with unprecedented luxury, but also the CT6 PHEV is expected to improve fuel economy by more than two times over the conventional engine .
