Since the Cadillac ATS came on stage for the 2013 model year, it has been widely praised and quickly become a popular model. Now, Cadillac will make the ATS even more desirable with a high-performance “V” version coming out later this year.
USA Today reports that Cadillac has confirmed a November debut for the ATS-V, but hasn’t specified what engine will be under the hood. Many industry experts expect it to be a twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter V-6—the same engine found in the 2014 CTS V-Sport. In the CTS, this engine puts out 420 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque and takes the CTS to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds.
If this engine is released for the smaller and lighter ATS, it would create a powerful sedan surely capable of taking on the BMW M3.
The Cadillac ATS-V will be making its debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show, which opens with a media preview on November 19. We’ll be keeping our eyes and ears open for any additional details on this exciting new member of the Cadillac family.
