The 2019 Cadillac XT4 is bringing a lot to the Cadillac lineup. From its modern style to its incredible interior, there’s no doubt that it’s raising the bar in its segment. It also offers a brand-new powertrain —a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder Tripower engine.
Like its name implies, the 2019 Cadillac XT4 Tripower engine has three modes that you can choose depending on your performance needs. These modes include a four-cylinder performance mode, a four-cylinder eco mode, and a two-cylinder eco mode.
For those looking for an extra bit of pep when they hit the gas pedal, the four-cylinder performance mode is the choice for you. It allows you to access all of the power this turbocharged-four has to offer. In the four-cylinder eco mode, you will find the power you want with the added benefit of having better fuel efficiency.
If saving gas is your main priority, then the two-cylinder eco mode will be your favorite of the three. It is considered the most efficient, saving you money at the gas pump. The crossover’s 2.0-liter engine offers drivers the ability to put out 237 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque and comes paired to a nine-speed automatic transmission.
Currently, the 2019 XT4 is the only non-pickup truck in General Motors’ entire lineup to use this Tripower technology. It’s likely, though, that the American carmaker will expand its use to other models in the future.
