One of the most defining characteristics of a vehicle is its interior. And, in the new 2015 Cadillac Escalade, the luxury SUV is getting entirely redefined. Now, standard on all models will be a fine, hand-crafted interior.
The Escalade’s new interior was inspired by high-end furniture, which should make you feel more like you’re sitting in your finely-appointed living room than driving your car. One way the designers created the ultimate feeling of luxury was by incorporating hand-sewn stitching and fabrics.
“We have cut and sew materials with real live stitching throughout the entire interior,” said Eric Clough, director of design, Cadillac interiors, in a statement. “It is the foundation of the cabin design, and similar to the way fine furniture and seating are made.”
Designers also used real wood, suede accents, and ambient lighting to enhance the interior. And, the interior doesn’t just look good, it feels good, too. The seats use dual-firmness foam that helps keep passengers comfortable even on long trips.
